# Nation Building Alliance > Nation Building Alliance (NBA) is an Indigenous-led, multi-sector partnership network. NBA connects communities, businesses, institutions, industry partners, funders, and advisors around opportunities that create shared success and lasting value. ## What NBA does - Opportunity strategy: clarify the need, the people involved, the resources available, and what success should look like. - Partnership development: connect the opportunity with relevant relationships, capabilities, institutions, funders, and leadership. - Alliance coordination: align priorities, responsibilities, commercial interests, decisions, and measurable outcomes. ## Opportunity areas - Housing and sustainable communities: modular homes, accessible housing, community infrastructure, project readiness, supply, and implementation partnerships. - Health and wellness: facilities, mobile diagnostics, rehabilitation, equipment, workforce, and qualified clinical partnerships. - Agriculture and food systems: agriculture, food security, controlled-environment growing, processing, procurement, distribution, and market access. - AI, digital, and innovation: responsible AI, community data systems, digital workflows, automation, and innovation tools. - Procurement and supply: sourcing, supplier qualification, supply strategy, category partners, freight, fulfillment, and project participation. - Indigenous enterprise growth: positioning, systems, funding readiness, digital presence, market access, and project-team participation. - Energy and resources: renewable generation, solar and wind development, clean-energy infrastructure, resource partnerships, and project teams. - Community and education: youth and workforce development, mentorship, digital and technical skills, knowledge transfer, and education partnerships. ## NBA Alliance Model NBA uses five connected stages: Define, Align, Connect, Advance, and Succeed. The model brings people, priorities, resources, and responsibility into alignment so opportunity can move toward measurable success. ## Featured programs - [Indigenous Disaster Recovery & Reconstruction](https://nationbuildingalliance.ca/programs/disaster-recovery/): one Indigenous-led program where First Nations can bring a recovery need, Indigenous contractors can bring an existing or prospective contract, project owners can bring a defined project, and suppliers or delivery partners can bring qualified capacity. NBA reviews the opportunity, identifies gaps, helps assemble the project structure, and coordinates agreed recovery planning, housing, infrastructure, professional expertise, construction, supply, logistics, capital pathways, and delivery support. Wildfire recovery is a current priority within the broader program. - Indigenous Services Canada's Emergency Management Assistance Program (EMAP) supports eligible First Nations across mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. ISC states that EMAP reimburses eligible response and recovery activities. NBA can help communities document need, build the housing recovery scope and budget, coordinate technical materials, liaise with government, and support an approved delivery pathway. Eligibility, authorization, scope, and reimbursement remain subject to government assessment; NBA does not guarantee approval. - [Indigenous Economic Partnerships](https://nationbuildingalliance.ca/programs/indigenous-economic-partnerships/) helps companies and institutions increase Indigenous procurement, compete for public contracts, enter Indigenous markets, and develop community projects through one accountable commercial partner. - [Indigenous Procurement & Managed Delivery](https://nationbuildingalliance.ca/programs/indigenous-procurement-managed-delivery/) is for organizations with a defined product, service, construction, or project requirement. NBA provides one coordinated commercial solution and one accountable Indigenous partner while managing the supplier and delivery network. The Government of Canada requires federal departments and agencies to target at least 5% of total contract value for Indigenous businesses. Federal procurement can use set-asides, Indigenous subcontracting, and Indigenous Participation Plans. Ontario's Indigenous Procurement Program can restrict opportunities, require Indigenous participation, or award higher evaluation scores. Toronto's Social Procurement Program incorporates supplier diversity and workforce development into applicable procurements. - [Indigenous Market Access & Project Partnerships](https://nationbuildingalliance.ca/programs/indigenous-market-access/) is built for non-Indigenous companies with proven products, technology, capital, construction, or professional expertise. NBA helps them find Indigenous market opportunities or pursue active RFPs, public contracts, funding opportunities, and major projects with a substantive Indigenous partner. NBA does not sell an endorsement. Its role must include genuine commercial responsibility, delivery value, and measurable Indigenous economic benefit. Requirements and advantages vary by buyer, solicitation, funding program, and project. NBA does not guarantee community support, eligibility, funding, evaluation points, or a contract award. - Across both economic-partnership pathways, NBA's Indigenous Economic Impact Commitment calls for substantive Indigenous commercial ownership, contract control, customer responsibility, project management, decision-making, quality responsibility, and economic benefit. Eligible engagements may include an agreed community-reinvestment commitment for workforce, youth, community, or economic-development initiatives. ## Public network The public network directory presents NBA's approved strategic partners: SixMiles Rehabilitation & Reconciliation Centre, Borderless, Artificial Perfection, SuperMarket, Urban Economy Forum, World Urban Pavilion, Trifocal Global Foundation, and Kealey & Associates.
