Nation Building Alliance and Urban Economy Forum Formalize Global Indigenous-Led Community Transformation Initiative

A two-day milestone moved NBA’s Indigenous-led Global Village initiative from a high-level announcement at the Housing Industry Innovation Summit in Toronto to a seven-year MOU signed at Chiefswood National Historic Site in Six Nations.

NBA and UEF co-lead the international platform

Nation Building Alliance leads the initiative’s Indigenous perspective and engagement pathways, while Urban Economy Forum co-leads its global urban-development, international convening and institutional dimensions.

Day One: announcement and Head of Agreement

At the July 28 Housing Industry Innovation Summit, UEF Founder and Chair Reza Pourvaziry announced the collaboration before senior housing, public, academic and international guests. NBA President & CEO Jesse Porter and Reza Pourvaziry signed an initial Head of Agreement.

Day Two: seven-year MOU at Chiefswood

On July 29, a UEF delegation visited Six Nations of the Grand River. Jesse Porter and Reza Pourvaziry signed a seven-year Memorandum of Understanding at Chiefswood National Historic Site, creating a long-term framework for the Global Village initiative and related projects.

An Indigenous-led platform with global reach

NBA and UEF will co-lead the platform. NBA will lead its Indigenous perspective, relationships and community-engagement pathways, while UEF will co-lead its global urban-development, international convening and institutional dimensions. The initiative is expected to involve and receive support from UN-Habitat, UNESCO and other relevant United Nations bodies.
